How do I register for Club Volleyball

Answer: In order to register for tryouts you must first become a member of USAV Volleyball. Then you may use the online registration for Midwest Penguins Volleyball Club based on your age range. Please visit our Tryouts page for complete instructions and registration links. 


What are the age divisions?

What is the practice schedule typically like?

Answer: Typically teams will practice two nights a week, with a third practice on Saturday mornings or Sunday evenings scheduled occasionally to focus on specialized positions. These practices are scheduled upon availability. 

Practice schedules will be updated once teams are formed, and are subject to change. 


What is a typical season like?

Answer: 

  • Season starts late November with practices
  • Season ends late April early May unless teams advance to National event
  • Practice 2-3 times a week
  • Play in 10 to 20 tournament dates through the season, plus any additional post season competition
  • Several team bonding opportunities
  • One to two coaches per team and visiting coaches through season
  • Some teams will choose to attend a qualifier or out of state event, this is included in their dues.
  • All National teams will enter the USAV Nationals Patriot Division, with the opportunity to earn a bid to National, USA, or American.

How many athletes are on a team?

Answer:
Teams will typically carry 10 or 11 athletes per team.
Practice only players are not used generally within the program.


What is the tryout format

Answer: 

  1. Registration
  2. Evaluate players skills on rotating courts
    1. Coaches will run many drills for consistency
  3. Evaluate players ability to play/compete with peers
  4. Play in smaller groups, and six on six to further evaluate
  5. Take picture of athletes with their number for future reference to utilize through the tryout period.
  6. Offers may be made day one, or all offers will be made on day two.

What if a tryout conflicts with other tryouts?

Answer:

  1. Do your best to be at the entire tryout
  2. Leave early from one session and arrive late to the next session
  3. Prioritize your club choices
  4. Be sure that you are at the first day of tryouts for the clubs you most desire to play 
  5. Keep in mind, if you are not there, you cannot be evaluated

When is the Badger Region Power League this year?

IN WISCONSIN!!
Sunday shifts are 8-2 or 3-9pm possibly.

Answer:
The Badger Region Power League is currently scheduled for the following dates: 
● Date 1 League: January 06-07
● Date 2 League: February 10-11
● Date 3 League: April 06-07

Waukesha, Kenosha, Appleton, Madison, Milwaukee, Other


When are the dates for Badger Champs?

Answer:
The Badger Region Champs tournament is currently scheduled for the following dates: 

  • Weekend 1 
    • March 9-10
      • Girls 11-12s
      • Champions Center, Appleton, Wisconsin
  • Weekend 2 
    • March 16-17 at Resch Center in Green Bay
      • Girls 15s as well as Girls 13-Badger and Girls 13-Wisconsin
    • March 16-17 at Wisconsin Center
      • All boys divisions as well as all Girls 14s divisions
  • Weekend 3 
    • March 23-24 at Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee
      • Girls 13-Open and Girls 13-Club as well as all Girls 16s, 17s and 18s divisions
